News from the Christian Peace Witness
ADVENT 2009
This Advent and Christmas let us fill every church across our country with the vision of peace. You will find resources for Advent/Christmas that evoke the challenge and promise of the Prince of Peace on the Christian Peace Witness website.
LENT 2010
As you look ahead to Lent and Easter, now is the time to make plans to use the Christian Peace Witness Lenten study guide on the Biblical call to peace and the toll the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are taking.
Using the knowledge of CPW members who have traveled to Iraq and Afghanistan and the inspiration from our speakers at our national events, the Lenten study will look at the impact of these wars and the Biblical call to peace. This study packet will be available by mid-January.
Christian Peace Witness invites you to plan now to use this resource for study in your faith community during Lent, and is encouraging regional witnesses to be organized in our name between Easter and Pentecost.
What makes CPW distinctive is our commitment that each witness we support will include:
- strong and rich public worship
- a bold and prophetic public action (that might or might not include a civil disobedience scenario)
- and public advocacy that includes outreach to elected congressional representatives
We have worked hard to ensure that our witnesses are theologically grounded, bold in their critique, and essentially positive and respectful in tone.
Start thinking now about organizing an event in your community! Signups on our website will begin the first of 2010.
