Sabbath Year 2007 and Cancel Debt Fast
The Jubilee USA Network, of which Pax Christi USA is a member, is sponsoring a 40 day rolling fast: Cancel Debt Fast from September 6 – October 15, 2007. Please sign up for a day or more by going to the web site: www.canceldebtfast.org, and ask others to do the same. The advocacy component of the fast is to promote support for the 2007 Jubilee Act in the House of Representatives (HR 2634), which would provide expanded debt cancellation for countries that were not included in the 2005 G-8 agreement and who need debt cancellation to address extreme poverty. A National Call on Congress Day is planned for October 15th. States where special advocacy is needed include: Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Illinois and Indiana.
